The Train control center and Interlocking integrated System (TIS) is a new safety-critical control system that meets the needs for safe operation of railway station equipment. The experimental application of the TIS system equipment on the Ruoqiang-Hetian Railway plays an exemplary role in the technical upgrading and development of signaling control system equipment. This paper describes the main functions and technical characteristics of the TIS system. In view of the experimental application of the TIS system on the Ruoqiang-Hetian Railway, it also summarizes and analyzes the differences between the TIS system and the traditional relay interlocking system from the aspects of construction and maintenance, which provides support and reference for the operation, maintenance and engineering application of the TIS system.

To solve the shortcomings of long switching time and poor reliability in the double-system hot standby switching of the vital computer platform of existing signaling systems, this paper presents the design of a switching module with high reliability and safety. It also provides the analysis and verification of the system scheme and control logic of the proposed module. When any system of the vital computer platform is abnormal, the main and backup systems of the platform and the safe switching module determine the status of the main and backup systems after the secure communication and operation of the dual-mode interface. This enables the fast, undisturbed and safe switching and smooth operation of the platform, thereby improving system safety and reliability.

The train location information is combined with the real-time track circuit status information to carry out multi-level train locating. A logical tracking method is proposed for section train number tracking based on a new train control system. The proposed method solves the problem that the CTC system cannot achieve the logical tracking of train number when multiple trains enter the same block section under the new train control system, and provides accurate and reliable train number information for dispatching commands.

The broken chainage information is critical for the railway line mileage and train control data, and is essential for ensuring the safety of train operation and the accurate issuance of temporary speed restriction (TSR) commands. There are remarkable differences in broken chainage identification between the broken chainage regulations issued in 2014 and 2024. To fully identify the impact range and safety of these differences, this paper provides a traversal description and makes an analysis of different scenarios of issuing TSR commands to reach the conclusion of no safety risk. It also provides an impact summary and gives recommendations to provide reference during the transition period before the adjustment of the operation mileage and the modification of the train control system of existing railways.

The Computer Based Interlocking (CBI) system serves as core equipment for train operation, and the CBI test has a direct bearing on the normal operation of the CBI system. To improve the efficiency in conducting CBI tests and avoid the risk of failure in manually preparing test records, a comprehensive management system is established for railway CBI tests. The data analysis and computer technologies are used to achieve whole-process recording for interlocking test data, and standardized templates are established to provide template documents for interlocking tests. After the tests are completed, the data technology is used to analyze the interlocking data, which provides guidance for subsequent interlocking tests.

Due to the limited number of RRUs connected by BBUs and limited remote signal distance of optical fibers between BBUs and RRUs in the 5G-R system, and in view of the difficulties in the construction and maintenance of long tunnels, the 5G-R system coverage scheme for long tunnels deserves special attention under the condition of no BBU in the tunnel. On the basis of a survey of the equipment manufacturers and an analysis of the published technical conditions of the 5G-R system, this paper firstly analyzes the characteristics and networking method of 5G-R base stations. It then studies the link budget of and proposes a RRU setting interval for the 5G-R system in tunnels. In view of the scenarios of long tunnels of different lengths, it finally provides suggestions on the coverage scheme for the 5G-R system in tunnels of different lengths under the condition of no BBU in the tunnel.

To improve the resource management as well as operation and maintenance efficiency of the railway data communication network, this paper studies the resource management mechanism for the data communication network. NetFlow and SNMP protocols are used to achieve automatic data collection on the equipment resources, IP resource utilization situation, service online status and service behavior characteristics of the railway data communication network. Test environment design, resource management system development and deployment as well as field testing are conducted to verify the resource management mechanism for railway data communication network based on the NetFlow and SNMP protocols. The proposed resource management system can profile the service flow, and describe such service attributes as source port, destination port, protocol, traffic volume, service type and location. It can achieve the dynamic monitoring of IP address resources, simplify the statistical calculation, analysis and allocation of IP addresses, and improve the utilization efficiency of IP resources.

This paper introduces and analyzes the working principles and limitations of traditional optical fiber online monitoring systems. It also proposes a new optical fiber monitoring system based on idle transmission ports. It provides a detailed description of the key technologies, implementation method and actual results as well as an in-depth explanation of the core components and working principles of the new system. The proposed system utilizes the idle transmission ports of the existing transmission equipment in the communication equipment rooms to monitor optical signal transmission and reception, which eliminates the need for additional fault nodes and poses no safety hazards to safe railway operation. The real-time acquisition, processing and display of optical power data allows the accurate monitoring of the performance of optical fiber links and the timely identification of issues and provision of fault judgments, which provides an effective solution for the stable operation of optical fiber communication lines.

To achieve “Integration of Four Networks”, it is necessary to make use of urban (suburban) railways as the connection and linkage, and it is a must to integrate two signaling types, i.e. CTCS system and CBTC system, to support cross-line train operation. This paper provides a detailed introduction to the composition of an integrated onboard equipment system compatible with both CTCS and CBTC systems, with a focus on the composition, working principles and key technologies of an integrated DMI system. The integrated DMI system supports the interface display of both CTCS and CBTC systems, and allows the automatic switchover of interface display based on control rights, which saves installation space, reduces equipment costs and has a high intelligence level. It can be widely used for urban railways that need to support cross-line operation of CTCS and CBTC trains.

To address the challenges brought by the expansion of the urban rail transit network, this paper focuses on the problem of how to reduce energy consumption during networked operations, and proposes the establishment of a cloud platform for urban rail transit and the development of a new optimization model for train energy saving. The proposed model significantly enhances the utilization rate of regenerative braking energy by optimizing the train headways across different lines and increasing the overlap in traction and braking scenarios, and thus effectively reduces the energy consumption for the network’s operations. Moreover, the network storage function of the cloud platform further promotes the resource sharing and interoperable operations among various lines. This research not only charts a course for the future development of urban rail transit, but also has significant scientific and practical value in terms of resource sharing as well as operation and maintenance management.

In the FAO train control system, an additional fault isolation function is provided between the platform screen doors and train doors in contraposition. Before the fault isolation function is implemented, the relevant functions need to be tested. The fault isolation function is achieved through the linked operation of multiple systems. The traditional test method involves the manual simulation of fault conditions, including the physical operation of the platform screen doors and train doors, and the manual simulation of the signaling systems, and has the problems of low efficiency and high costs. To meet the test requirements of improving efficiency and reducing costs, this paper presents the design of a simulation testing device for the fault isolation function. On the basis of a study of the indoor testing principles of the relevant functions, it proposes a scheme for the simulation testing device, and presents the achievement of the indoor testing function for the fault isolation function of the FAO signaling system. The proposed simulation testing device can effectively improve the product integration capability of the train control signaling system, and further ensure passenger safety and normal train operation.

The new balise can achieve function extension on the basis of the existing balise. This paper studies how to achieve train-to-wayside communication, automatic tracking of train front and rear end locations, train section and track occupancy detection as well train integrity detection while retaining the existing functions. The new balise simplifies the equipment types of signaling system, reduces the quantity of wayside equipment, and lowers construction and maintenance costs. It can either form part of a low-cost and efficient intermittent signaling system or serve as the backup mode of a CBTC system, and can ensure real-time emergency response through low-cost wireless communication methods.
