The paper gives a brief description of the background and main principles of movement authority (MA) used in combination with track circuit codes for CTCS-3 train control systems, which may shorten the movement authority and cause the onboard equipment to output a full service brake in the actual project. Based on the research into this problem, the paper proposes an adjustment scheme for the CTCS-3 wireless communication message structure and the way in which the onboard equipment obtains the track circuit codes. According to this scheme and the typical scenarios, the onboard processing logic for specific low-frequency coding will be optimized, which can further improve the adaptability of MA combined with track circuit codes at CTCS-3 level.

In order to solve the problem of the sudden drop in the speed of a train controlled by CTCS-3 system on a continuous long heavy down grade of a high-speed railway, the methods of dividing block sections are studied. The technology of embedding the train control monitoring curve model in the traction calculation data model is adopted to realize high-precision train operation simulation and to ensure the accuracy and rationality of block section division. Based on the analysis of the problems in the design of Zhengzhou-Wanzhou High-speed Railway and the calculation of related parameters, the specific methods of block section division and the interrelations between such methods are studied in CTCS-2 and CTCS-3 train control systems to provide design reference for other new high-speed railway projects.

There are many problems in realizing semi-automatic/automatic station block based on relay circuits, such as the requirements for high-performance circuit components, high costs of inter-station cable laying and maintenance, complex fault analysis in special scenarios and so on. A scheme is proposed to realize semi-automatic/automatic station block by computer based on communication interactive extended information. Through comparison with the relay circuit scheme, it is analyzed that the extended information based on communication-mode interaction has clear meaning and more accurate timing judgment, which can overcome the design defects of the relay mode and adapt to an increased number of complex application scenarios. The proposed scheme also has obvious advantages in construction, operation and maintenance.

The paper focuses on improving the stable and reliable transmission of vehicle-ground information by wireless systems, and puts forward a scheme to optimize the redundant architecture of a vehicle-ground wireless system with additional vehicle-ground transmission links. Wireless link health status monitoring and non-disturbance link switching are used to ensure that the information is always transmitted on the optimal link. The proposed scheme reduces the probability of interruptions in vehicle-ground wireless communication caused by wireless errors affecting the stable operation of trains. The stability and reliability of the signal systems of rail transit can be improved by promoting the redundancy of such wireless systems.

At present, the analysis of the demands of the signaling profession is not detailed enough on the IOM platforms at the line/network level. Besides, there are no unified implementation schemes in the industry. Different manufacturers have different designs and implementation methods with different emphases and no unified standards, so there are no mature schemes for deploying a signal IOM system on a single line. Therefore, this paper focuses on an engineering design for the deployment of an IOM management subsystem for the signal system of a single line. The design provides enough details to meet the requirements of preliminary designs and user requirement specifications, and to provide references for the refinement of signal schemes of IOM platforms at the line/network level.

Against the backdrop of the special campaign to address wireless communication timeout launched by China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., this paper provides a case study of a typical failure in on-board train control equipment that can repeatedly occur in fixed locations, so as to provide an in-depth analysis of the reasons for triggering the wireless communication timeout of such on-board equipment in the scenario where the CTCS-3 and CTCS-2 Movement Authority (MA) is inconsistent during the RBC handover process of stations with multiple intersecting lines in a hub area. Optimized technical solutions are studied and compared from the professional perspectives of the engineering design of railway signal systems, the organization and dispatching of transportation, the technical conditions of coding sending by the track circuits of train control centers, and the software processing logic of on-board equipment. It is recommended that ATP should not be actively disconnected from the receiving RBC.

The allowable speed of EMU under CTCS-3 and CTCS-2 levels is 300-350 km/h and 250-300 km/h respectively. Wireless communication timeout will lead to the fallback from CTCS-3 to CTCS-2 level, which will seriously affect the allowable speed of EMU and the real-time transmission of train control data such as allowable speed of EMUs and Movement Authority (MA). In order to accurately analyze the causes of wireless communication timeout, this paper analyzes the cases from three aspects of ground equipment, on-board equipment and wireless network, and puts forward optimization suggestions.
